My research primarily addresses issues related to land use policy, water resource economics, and the analysis of pollution control regulations. Some of this research applies the methods of experimental economics to analyze how individuals and groups respond to the incentives generated by regulatory policies and information. Current research projects that I am working on analyze the performance of policies designed to improve water quality in cases where it is difficult to identify specific polluters, and the effect of various types of information provision on resource use.
I also conduct research that utilizes spatial data to better understand land use decision making and policy. Recent research that I have conducted in this area evaluates participation in agricultural land conservation programs and the design of groundwater conservation policies that account for heterogeneity in aquifer and agronomic characteristics across space.
